White stoneware clay body with raw outer body and clear glazed inner body. MĀTĀ is "mother" in Hindi and was assigned as the vessels name as it offers an opening of space that holds the universal magic of birth and beginning. This vessel encompasses the essense of femininity and the natural folds of skin part of a human body as it ages. Through time, skin warps and becomes proof of the life lived in that vessel. MĀTĀ, at certain angles, has distinguishable feminine features such as the folds of a womans opening, however, quickly once perspective has changed, shows a continuation of the roll of clay fusing into a different shape. This abstract representation of the vessel shows a softness to a body whether human or clay, slowly and meaningfully desensitising the beauty standards of women to conform to tight, ageless, and textureless skin. Everything in nature is inherently beautiful.
